The Harcourt Street Station Building and Terminus are landmark protected structures that operated for 100 years from 1859 to 1958. Closure of the railway gradually triggered commercial redevelopment of the urban blocks around the station and terminus.

A disused yard sat between the distinctive stone arches of the terminus and Harcourt Street and, in conjunction with redevelopment of the terminus, the yard was opened up to become a public space with retail and cafe uses occupying the arches and animating the public space.
